by shiori_makiba / Ashley Weyer

Part of Polychrome Heroics:
Set-up for some of my planned pieces for the Berettaflies thread.

Clothing, Make-Up, Hair and Fur Care, and More for Those Who Don't Fit The Mold

We at All Bodies All Beautiful believe that everyone's body is beautiful. That everyone deserves to have clothing that fits their bodies and doesn't cause them harm. That everyone deserves health and beauty products that actually work and look good on them regardless of what they look like. That everyone who desires it is entitled to beauty and spa services that are comfortable and safe.

Price varies on a case-by-case basis. While we never say no to money, we also accept trades and other deals of that nature. If you have need or want of our services but lack funds, call us anyway! We'll figure something out that's fair for us and fair for you.

This is lovely. It's nice to see a business catering to soups. Honestly, they probably stay in business by asking the rich soups to subsidize the poor ones. Price on a sliding scale and the affordability problem is solved. I suspect that they also get material donations from gizmologists who are working to develop soup-friendly fabrics.

If Tsubasa is at all interested in modeling, this would be a perfect gig for her because she is so photogenic.

I wonder if we could talk Facet into going there for a fitting. He's so squirrely about his face, I'm sure he's never gone over things like how to coordinate clothing choices with unusual body parts. He'd look handsome in a dark suit with subtle embroidery to pick up the colors from his eyes, and a matching tie and pocket square.

>> Thank you! The idea just popped into my head that for many soups the standard issue stuff just doesn't work for one reason or another. <<

Absolutely true. It's a leading challenge -- pretty much everything commercial is designed for naries, minus a few things that were retro-engineered from soup supplies.

>>But this setting has the know-how and enough gizmologists to figure out SOMETHING.<<

Terramagne is juuuuust getting to that point. They've had custom gear for decades, but only in recent years have they had enough population base, experience, and technology to start reproducing that on even a small scale. We're starting to see the first soup-oriented businesses now, real groundbreaking stuff.

It'll take a while for them to catch on that some of this stuff can be extrapolated over to offer benefits to naries too. Like in our world, we're starting to get away from strictly clinical prosthetic devices into expressive ones. Terramagne has some really far-out stuff, wait until you see what Ragno picks out. But anyhow, some people with nonstandard bodies try to hide it, with varying results. Sometimes it looks better if you just work with what you got, and the number of commercial sources for doing that is basically zero so far.

>>Likely. I suspect that they get money and such donated from groups like Kraken or individuals like Dr. Infanta.<<

>>Yep. In my mind and with your approval, one of the projects they are working on (with various independent gizmologists) is a fabric material for Aquariana so she at least has the option of clothing when she wants it.<<

That works for me. She's already tried the obvious, like dexflan, capery, wetsuits, etc. She needs something that will be light, gentle on her skin, and stay damp. Feel free to prompt for this.

I think she'd be game to model for them.<<

:D I suspect it'll take a while for Tsubasa to gain that level of comfort with her new body, but modeling -- if you have a good coach -- is actually a great way to gain confidence. There are acid-attack survivors doing it, for instance.

>>And I hope we can talk Facet into it. That suit sounds lovely. He deserves to look and feel handsome after being made to feel ugly by the ignorant and just plain mean.<<

I agree. I went out looking and found a few examples, took some doing because most suits with any embroidery at all are LOUD, and he needs something very understated. His eyes are vivid peacock colors, so look for threads of blue, green, purple, and gold. Then just coordinate accessories such as tie, pocket square, cufflinks or tie tack, etc. He'd probably do better with a bow tie but good luck talking him into that.

Poor guy, it would take Facet a while to realize that when the tailor says "Oh what beautiful eyes!" he means it, as a fashion statement, not a mocking attack. My suspicion is that Facet wouldn't be interested in fancy clothes for himself -- why bother? -- but could be talked into accompanying Adalina for moral support. He's never seen anything like what they produce, but once he has gotten a look at the options, might be gently coaxed to try a few things for himself.

Another source of additional support: Spin off clothing with gizmonic properties for rich naries. Easy first thoughts:

• a gown with a long train that doesn't trail but floats, an inch to a couple of feet above the ground

• a carnival mask that covers the whole face, or seems to, but you can eat and drink through it without affecting it or the food/drink. (This popped into my head because of the godawful virus/cold I'm getting over: for a week or more I was wearing an antiviral mask whenever I was with other people.)

•variant of the above: a full-head covering that would show your head exactly as it is but rotated 180° to face backward, as in "The Exorcist", or upside-down, or both. Why would you want this? I don't know, but I'm sure somebody would. Oh, and giving you a rear-view, say in the corner of your vision.

• clothing made of fabric with constantly shifting designs. This could be programmable (I'm currently organizing pix of my cruise), and maybe also turned off to show a plain surface.

•variable-height shoes, in any style

And so on...

In line with the shifting-designs one, some sort of controllable colour-shift would be highly desirable on solid fabrics. If you find a shirt, vest, dress, jacket or (perhaps especially) bra that's really comfortable, but then you can change its colour to suit your mood or the rest of your outfit...even accessories like ties, pocket squares and such would probably sell, and likely be cheaper due to the sizes involved. Wedding parties could get a thing that starts out one matching colour, and then switch it to another at some appropriate point.
