Science: Solar System and Scale

While roaming the internet, I came across this neat video about the scale of our solar system.
If you're like me, you have difficulty fully wrapping your brain around space distances. I understand intellectually that distance between objects in space is huge. But it can hard to visualize just how huge those distances are.
So maybe this video will help you get that picture in your head. It's been helping me.

Date: 2016-12-09 01:09 pm (UTC)start at a scale of 1 inch = 1 hundred years. So, recorded human history is a span of 25 feet, give or take... and T.rex is out by Mars.

Date: 2016-12-10 05:47 am (UTC)Nothing space or scaled history to make one feel just bit tiny. Not a bad tiny, just a kinda "Woah . . . and wow . . . I'm not sure what exactly to feel except kinda of small."
It's a good thing to feel, once in a while. I feel like it helps keeps things in perspective, little reminder that the universe is a very big place, it has been around a lot longer than you have, and will continue to go on long after you gone onto the next turn of the wheel.
