WELCOME
Welcome to my blog. I've never tried to write one before so this will be a learning experience. I'm planning to host my writing, other creative projects, and musing on various topics. Helpful tips, criticisms, and the like are useful and therefore will be welcomed. Demeaning insults and other such nonsense are not and will not be tolerated.
INTRODUCTION
I am “Shiori_Makiba” on this site and Ashley Weyer out there in what we humorously describe as the real world. I currently reside in Florida but have previously lived in other states. Never been outside of the United States but I would like to change that one day.
I'm the proud human of a cat named Squirt. She is generally willing to share me with fellow cat Scamp. The other cats and the dog getting my attention is grudgingly tolerated. Fortunately, I'm not the only human in the house. Hersey the Dog seems to like my dad and brother better anyway.
Side note, my family name is pronounced Wire. I say this only because most people I've met aren't sure how to pronounce it when they see it written down.
WRITING
I'm a writer. Most of the stuff floating around my imagination or ideas folder is fiction of the fantasy, science fantasy, or science fiction variety. Most of my previous forays have been prose with the occasional haiku thrown in for flavor. I'd like to expand my range in that regard as well improve both my prose and haiku. Again, helpful criticism is welcome.
CREATIVE WORKS
For the non-writing stuff:
I do embroidery. From stamped pattern pieces or with iron-on transfer patterns. On those, I generally take the color guide as a suggestion and will happily substitute in new colors if either I don't have that color floss or I think this other color would be better. Most of these projects become gifts for the people in my life.
Other needlework – I've done some counting cross stitch. Some of my recent embroidery projects have been quilts or quilt squares so I'm planning to learn how to quilt them. I'm entertaining the notion of picking up knitting or crochet.
I used to draw a lot but tailed off in recent years and thus need to rebuild my skill set in that area. Preferred mediums is pencil, charcoal, chalk, and colored pencils. When I painted or will paint in the future, I prefer acrylics – it's less messy.
MUSINGS
Simply, my thoughts on a given topic. Through, like every other person in universe, I have opinions. Some of which you may agree with and others you may disagree with. That is fine. Just response like an adult about this difference of opinion. Remember, everyone is entitled to their opinion and has their own perspective on things.
SOMETHING CREATIVE THIS WAY COMES
Shout-outs for creative works, be it original or fan works. And boosting the signal for crowd-funded projects that look interesting.
OTHER
Basically anything that doesn't fit into the above. Like if I find pretty pictures that I want to share. Or decided to contribute to the Internets' ever-growing collection of cat pictures.
